This is a special, low-cost programme offered for two main reasons:
I am a therapist in training. Offering a reduced rate is a standard part of this process as I complete my advanced qualifications under supervision.
It is part of a professional research project. This specific 6-session model is part of my private research into the effectiveness of short-term therapy.
The discounted fee reflects both my status as a trainee and your participation in this specific, time-limited research structure.

That's an important question. This discounted programme is offered to explore how much effective change can be achieved within a focused, short-term (six-session) model.
This approach is based on time-limited therapy, similar to models used within the NHS, which are designed to be highly focused.
While six sessions may not be enough to fully resolve complex or long-standing psychosexual concerns, it is an incredibly valuable and powerful starting point. The primary aim is to:
Conduct a thorough assessment of your situation.
Help you gain a much clearer understanding of the core issues and patterns.
Begin working on achievable goals.
Many people find they experience a meaningful shift in their perspective or symptoms within this timeframe. In our final session, we will review our work together. You will leave with a solid foundation and a clear plan for any next steps you wish to take, whether that's further therapy or new strategies to use on your own.
-
Our work will be structured to make the most of our time together. The process is collaborative and tailored to you, but generally follows this path:
Session 1: The Assessment This first session is an extended appointment (at no extra cost) dedicated to understanding you and your concerns. We will conduct a thorough biopsychosocial assessment, which is a conversation that explores the biological, psychological, and social factors contributing to the issue. This will likely include creating a genogram, a visual map of your family and relationship history, to help us identify important patterns.
Sessions 2-5: The Work Based on the assessment, we will create a clear focus for our sessions. We will explore your presenting symptoms and when they began, helping you gain insight into their roots. A key part of this will be exploring your "sex and relationship scripts"—the beliefs, expectations, and rules you hold about intimacy. We will then introduce specific therapeutic interventions and exercises designed to help you create change.
Session 6: Review and Next Steps In our final session, we will review the progress you have made and the insights you have gained. We will consolidate your learning and create a clear plan for the future, whether that involves further independent work or seeking longer-term therapy.

No. These are important and complex areas that require specialised, long-term support.
This focused, six-session model is not suitable for that kind of intensive work. I would be happy to provide resources or signpost you to services that are specifically equipped to help with these issues.

Your feedback is an essential part of this process. If you reach the end of our six sessions and feel dissatisfied or unhappy with the experience, I would ask that you please raise this during our final review session.
This last session is specifically designed to discuss our work together, including what you felt worked and what didn't. Understanding your perspective is incredibly valuable.
While a specific outcome can never be guaranteed in therapy, discussing your dissatisfaction allows us to:
Properly conclude our work in an open and honest way.
Clearly identify what you feel is still unresolved.
Help me provide the most relevant suggestions for your next steps or onward referrals.
